How many. . . . . .

by amber   Jan 5, 2008

How many times have i looked to you
And you turn away?
How many times must i beg for you
To lead me not astray?

How many nights must i tremble
Without you by my side?
How many broken pieces to my heart
Should i try to hide?

How many tears must i shed
Before you see the truth?
How many times must i suffocate
Before you see me turn blue?

How many times must i drink
And fall into the abyss?
How many times must i reach out
Just to have your kiss?

How many times must i scream
Before it seems to late?
How many times must i fall to pieces
Before you see me break?

How many times must i run away
With tears that can never fall?
How many times must i lay it all out
And risk loosing it all?

How many times must i gamble at this
Because you think i'm just a game?
How many times must i wear this tag,
For you to remember my name?

How many times must i get on my knees?
How many times must you see me bleed?
How many times must you see my need?
How many times must i beg and plead?

How many times must i try to escape?
How many times must i openly break?
How many times must it be too late?
How many times must love turn to hate?

How many times must you turn away?
How many times must this love go astray?
How many times must my feelings change?
How many times before you trust me this way?

How many nights must i sit here and cry
Secretly wishing, in your arms i would die,
Just to see if you really still cared
when you honestly realized, i'm no longer here

How many times must i cut these wrists
Taking me further to the psychos eclipse
How many times must this blade fall
before you realize you've lost it all

How many times must you hold me to your chest
Before you realize, i'm the one that loves you best?
How many nights must you be so lonely
Before you realize, i'm still your one and only?

How many tears must you then cry,
How many tears, before you realize,
That i was yours and you were mine
And you let me go, for the last time

How many nights will you secretly regret
Hoping and praying, you'll never forget
How many nights must you sit and ponder
About how many nights, i sat and wondered

How many nights, will the blade come to you
And in your heart, you forever knew
That the reason i cut myself in two
Was all because of the stuff you do

How many nights will you sit there in pain
And tell your heart, you have nothing to gain
That you lost it all when you lost me
How many nights, will it take you to see?

dedicated to someone i love very much and he will never see it. all is true but the cutting part, it adds a nice dramatic effect. thanks for taking the time to read this, comments, votes, critism are welcome, if you feel that i've left something out or something can be replaced to make it better, feel free to leave the suggestion in a comment. i will return all comments :)

Amber, this is a powerfully emotional piece. I like the way you have used the repeated lines throughout. I personally think, however that these three stanza's are too similar in construction that they distract the reader from their contents. I also found some of the meter in a few verses a little out.

Check out in 'Articles' Eric's meter tips!! He has helped me so much. A true gentleman!!
