The Evolution of Love

by IdTakeABulletForYou   Aug 4, 2016

I love you more than anything in the world.
Each soft, tender touch;
the way you nibble my ear.
The bang nearly 14 billion years ago...
the bang in my bedroom an hour ago...
infinite moments added up to
you and I.

I love you more than I love myself.
Each compliment, your undying support;
the way you hold me and tell me everything will be okay.
A whole lifetime of anguish trying to find my place...
realizing my place was in your arms...
Without that anguish, I would not be
the one you love now.

I love you more than words;
although, I write still, encompassing emotions
into black and white, words I make sound like a rainbow.
There would be no happiness in this rainbow
if I had not endured the rains that came before.
Life is a contest I've won,
and you its prize.

I love you for the children.
Each child raised, a plethora of
bills and yelling that seem cyclic and never-ending.
We have been aside one another,
through years and tears,
but have grown distant in our own worlds of
work, sleep, repeat.

I love you for the children
. . . but once they grow up
I may not love you anymore.
Every ounce of effort put into living
is never returned to us.
People change as they lose each ounce,
shedding their light for darkness.

I love you for the time you loved me.
Each touch, now abrasive and cold;
every word you yell into my ear.
No bangs remain, for love or for fun,
and forever has come sooner than anticipated.
This once fiery and bright white star
has collapsed in on itself.

I loved you once
and I hate myself for not loving you anymore,
but "'til death" doesn't always mean "'til the death of life"
. . . it often just means "'til the death of love".

    This paragraph, if read the way I read it is a little bit naughty! Full of imaginary. also who doesn't love a nibble on the ear ;)

    This is so powerful. When you finally realise you love someone so much that you care more about them than yourself is such a huge emotion to let out. It's only recently I'm discovering the same feelings. You place is in there are - can i just say AWWWWW. that is adorable..

    I love this simply because it's comparing your life before you met this person and all the bad that you went through and all the heartbreaks.. they all seem worth it now don't they, just to have this one person...

    these last few are a little sad. They show the motions of falling out of love so well. how one minute everything is great, fantastic, lively, then the world steps in. bills, children, jobs, distractions... feeling are lost in stress and a lot of other things. sometimes we cant help it. And we do beat ourselves up about it..
    It's a terrible thing having to tell someone you no longer love them..

    As before (now im not half asleep) I really love these new pieces from you.

    Well done..
