Insomnia

by Jennifer RIP Lesthat Hayden   Mar 29, 2008

I watch the constant blades spin.
Blades cutting at the air.
Insomnia won again,
For at the fan I stare.

Staring at the window pane,
Looking through the glass.
I watch the stars and a plane.
Watching the lights pass.

Tossing, turning, in my bed,
While others are asleep.
I am stuck awake instead.
So much for counting sheep.

Check the clock, turn again,
Another hour has passed.
Thoughts whirling in my brain.
I'll be the one asleep last.

Close my eyes and wait for rest.
I have let insomnia win.
I have failed its only test.
I wait for morning to begin.
