Give Me My Wings

Momma and Daddy, I love you.
You guys are my whole world!
I'll always be momma's little "Kail-Bug".
And Daddy's precious little girl.

But I'm 16 now and I'm ready
To make this life my mine.
Don't worry, but I know y'all will!
I know everything will turn out fine.

Thanks for all the things you've given me.
My life hasn't been too rough.
Everything's been handed to me,
But I still think I'm pretty tough.

I know you're scared to let me go,
But I need to get away from this town.
I've always been perfect in your eyes.
I just need to get rid of this hidden frown.

I'm ready to run away from here!
But I know that will break y'all's hearts.
I don't want to do that ever;
I don't want to break them into shattered parts.

Don't worry, I'll be back soon.
I'll return as an adult, but I'll still be me.
Don't cry when I leave, I may just stay,
But I'm ready to run at the count of three.

    An amazingly written piece of poetry. touching and deep. the story behind it, there is a girl is who running away so that she can finally appear as an adult in the eyes of her family, but deep down she will always be the same.
