Not safe in the outside world

by Trying to hold on   May 1, 2008

An utterly careless driver
Opened up my eyes
Danger is all around
Reality now grown in size

Can't control actions of others
Not really safe anywhere
Especially the outside world
Where I now live in constant fear

Struggling to understand
Why humans can't live in peace
Stealing, fighting, killing,
Will this selfishness ever cease?

Don't know where to go from here
I have no hope left at all
Because every time I stand
Straight back down again I fall

Need to feel safe, some control
To be able to try and re-adjust
So for now at home I'll stay
With those I know and can trust.

Nice poem, well written... but I think that sometimes even home is unsafe
