Holy War

by eehcuhhhz   May 31, 2008

Some men on horses protect the lands,
Defending the views believed are true.
Now is the time to repress misery.
Pride and anger needs to pierce through.

Others on feet with a cross in hand;
Death seekers for the ones who will seize.
Sacred terrains they have prayed upon,
Task requires a heartless expertise.

Warring, believing their crowd is right,
Fighting a battle that should not be fought.
For in the eyes of their Gods, they are holy,
Helping the others with their distraught.

Blessed lands sparkle with disrespect;
For the group owning the spread reigns power.
Other countries will be envious,
The holy terrain they will devour.

A new day will pass once more,
Yet the war will refuse to end.
For in the eyes of religion.
War is the only way to wend.

    A powerful poem about religion. i didn't quite get anything that may have been in between the lines but i enjoyed the read as it was different to what i usually read. i think it flowed well, rhymed brilliantly and was worded and penned fantasticly

    This poem makes a very valid point about the abuses that misguided religious fanaticisms have caused if mankind sought the truth with the same persistence the world could live in peace, at least from a mystic point of view. Great poem, I have no criticisms
