My love for you ( Glosa Verse)

My love for you ( Glosa Verse)

Many a night I stood at my window
gazing at the stars shining so bright
How I wished I could have been with you
and that you could have held me tight
Days drifting by so slowly and lonely
There was nothing I could do
I wanted you to be with me forever
and each day to be filled with happiness
Make my pledge of love each day anew
Silently and hopelessly I loved you

How does a soul keep on believing
when a situation is hopeless as can be?
In dark despair I stumbled all alone,
waiting for a miracle to happen
Some light at the end of the tunnel
Many times I asked God why,
why did he let me fall in love
with a man that would never be mine?
Desire so strong I just had to try,
At times too jealous and at times too shy

Endless days and countless nights
I was spellbound by your love
Nothing else mattered, just you
All reasoning had left me for a while
How our heart does dictate our
every thought and all that we do
My mind went round in circles,
hopelessly wanting to have you near
I know you felt that way too
God grant you find another who will love you

The throne is empty now but for
the memories you left there to linger
My feelings about you will never change
Always and forever you will be my angel,
the one I see at my safe place at the lake
I will never leave and say goodbye
but meet you there for the rest of my days
In real life you will meet, I know within my heart
A girl to cherish and to love you she will try
As tenderly and truthfully as I.

I wrote this poem because of a personal challenge made to me by my friend TJ Becker to write a Glosa Verse.

This Glosa is based upon the poem I Loved You by Alexander Pushkin.

The cabeza I used:

Silently and hopelessly I loved you,
At times too jealous and at times too shy.
God grant you find another who will love you
As tenderly and truthfully as I.

Glossa verse
The glosa is an early Renaissance form that was developed by poets of the Spanish court in the 14th and 15th centuries. In a glosa, tribute is paid to another poet. The opening quatrain, called a cabeza, is by another poet, and each of their four lines are embedded elsewhere in the glosa.

The opening quatrain is followed by four stanzas, each of which is generally ten lines long, that elaborate or "glosses" on the cabeza chosen. Each ending line (10th line) of the four following stanzas is taken from the cabeza.

The usual rhyme scheme of a glosa is final word rhyming of the 6th, 9th and the borrowed 10th lines.

Tee hee...the entire poem only has one period. :]

Those last two lines were brilliantly executed my dear. Bravo! ^_^

The parts that rhymed were lovely and every aspect of the poem had this sort of longing ahhh I love you but...Feeling to it. It was very interesting. It's like you were inside someone's head and they wouldn't shut up. Lol. I mean that in the best of ways. :]

    Five out of five.

    Hello Ma'am,

Absolutely awesome poem. Its a wonderful poem to read. I cant really express what I am feeling after reading this poem. Kindly forgive me because I don't know the technical names of different types of poems but as an avid reader of yours, I can proudly scream that this is the besssst poem to date... I wish I can shower more praises by adding a few more lines but you can guess by now that what you have created is nothing less than a magnus opus.

    Regards,
