Blessed Child ( Sonnet)

Blessed Child ( Sonnet)

Oh blessed be the child born out of true love
Bestowing upon his parents the gift
of life, the most precious ever dreamed of
A miracle to set their hearts adrift

Filling a void they never knew they had
Counting toes and fingers , checking it all
Gazing at the infant lying in bed
Overcome with joy at his arrival

Greatest gift known to man, to have a child
To cherish and adore like once the son
of Mary and Joseph, oh how God smiled
when He was born and history begun

The greatness of God is shown at its best
by birth of a child, thus marriage is blessed

This poem was written as a personal challenge made to me by my dear friend LJ Roodt.

I would like to dedicate it to Lucas, son of my beloved friend Michael Moran, who will turn eight at the 23rd of November.

A very apt poem to be reviewed this time of year, and what a loving poem it is too. The birth of a baby between two loving parents.
    Very well penned Ingrid.
This is a beautiful piece of work!

    Ingrid,

I have just decovered this beautiful sonnett.

It is written with so much love, love that only true experience can gift. Children are to be cherished and adored, especially when they are your own. The love we all feel as parents for our children is so pure that I believe that it is the purest kind of love there is..debateable I know, but that is how I feel. Whenever I look into his eyes, my heart skips with pride and adoration for all that he is and all that he will be.

Thank you so very much..as parents we are all blessed.

    Michael
    ((hugs))
