At least I twinkle, tonight

by Melissa   Dec 15, 2008

I feel like a star
cast amongst this ambiguousness
of sky
and I'm hanging on
to vacant air

as all the saplings
and gawkers
slurp on lattes
and wish upon my misery

alas, when one of those whims
chooses to make itself
come true,
I'll shoot like a meteor

into nothing

but a tittle of dust
flickering
in someone else's dream

Hi Mel, been awhile! Happened to stop in and caught this gem. This is really a fantastic piece- love everything about it! Has a melancholy feel. The last two ending stanzas are awesome, so powerful. I'll have to pop in more often- you've always been a favorite - I forget how many wonderful poems are here for the reading!
