Fireworks

by kevin Boundy AKA the ghost   Feb 11, 2009

Fourth of July after a party
My surroundings proceed to spin
I think about last year
And all the messes I was in

I take another sip
As my surroundings change to black
Here I am wishing
I could take it all back

There we are on the beach
I remember the feeling of that kiss
Hello heart ache I thought I was rid of you
Goodbye feeling of bliss

Another swig and there we are
Underneath the dock
I blink and I can still see my best friend
Covered in blood outlined in chalk

Take the Advil's from my pocket
And take them all with another sip
My hands can't stop shaking
I sit here thinking as the tears drip

If I would have been with him
I could have saved his life
I blew him off knowingly for you
I practically held the knife

I go to take another sip but the bottle's empty
If only you could hear my silent cries
Look the fireworks in my heart
Match the fireworks in the skies
