Clock Watching

by Melissa   Mar 18, 2009

I am no good at waiting
so I immerse myself
in trivial tasks
that depend not
on a tongueless mouth
to edify me

instead, I shave my legs,
tan,
and doodle this restive poem
highlighting
all these insecurities
that are impertinent
to why I wriggle about

(but at least I'm golden again)

I really liked this piece of yours here Melissa.
It made me smile and was quite interesting. I liked how you incorporated every day things which women do in order to keep themselves busy while waiting for something. I am also impatient and it's good to see other women share my thoughts. I've been writing less lately due to my me lack of time. I found myself writing today as I waited.

I expecially liked the last line of the poem. It was very clever. Golden reminds me of the tanning so it goes together really neatly with the meaning behind the poem. Well done. Overall this was an excellent piece by you.

Its all about having patience! Waiting just
gets the person all worked up! As always
