Bad Habits

by Lady Nik   Dec 20, 2009

She thought she could stop
chewing down pill after pill
but now everyone knows
she is more than ill.

She hasn't stayed sober long
maybe a few short days
long enough for it to crawl back
and make her head sway.

Tumble tumble dropped low
this is where she lands,
trying to be a superhero
without a master plan.

I shouldn't be so critical
because this was once me
floating on clouds so high
that I could never sleep.

I wanted to come down once
but the drugs needed me to stay
so here I was stuck in rewind
brain so fried that I couldn't press play.

We both couldn't control the feeling
that wouldn't die and let us be
she's standing at my grave
one day I hope you can forgive me.

Beautifully written. i liked this part as well: "I wanted to come down once
but the drugs needed me to stay
so here I was stuck in rewind
brain so fried that I couldn't press play."
great job and keep it up! :)

I liked this. it was very relatable. i think the flow was a little off in some bits like in the stanza

"I wanted to come down once
but the drugs needed me to stay
so here I was stuck in rewind
brain so fried that I couldn't press play."
that last line is a bit long i think and puts the reader off.

apart from a few things like that it was really good. i always enjoy reading your poems 5/5
