Woeful Clocks Keep On Turning

by Poet on the Piano   Jan 1, 2010

I stand in solitude as raindrops
quickly flood my neighborhood
bitter tears cascade down
I can't even distinguish
who or what created them.

Another year has passed
like beautiful changing seasons
they hypnotize your every will
leaving you utterly speechless
then depart without farewell.

One more silent rose has fallen
dead with lack of intimacy
if only I had the courage
to go out on talking waters
instead of being dreadfully still.

Depressing birds drop
deep into livid waters
as threatening pessimism
enters the open door
of my lifeless little soul.

There is always next year
when sunshine might arrive
and I will see hope once more
maybe just maybe
I'll live for tomorrow.
