Lies (Cascadent)

by Sylvia   Mar 17, 2010

Lies,
how easily they are spoken.

Lies,
words omitted, it's the same.

Lies,
tear a heart apart, steal the grace.

Lies,
hurtful words, destroy dreams.

Lies,
when the truth is required.

Hateful lies,
full of vicious venom.

Detestable lies,
offensive to the mind.

Truth and honesty,
opposites of lies,
all but forgotten virtues.

When you speak, all I hear is,
Lies! Lies! Lies!

Cascadent poetry requires the use of a common word. The word has to end or start the first five lines. But whichever you choose must be consistent, either start or end. Do not mix. Then an extra word of your choice plus the common word for two lines. Then three lines where the word is incorporated once only anywhere. Finally, the common word must be the last line repeated three times.

I have never seen this form. I don't thinnk it is one I could do :) Your word you picked was perfect and so true. How many people hurt others with their falsehoods. Then go on about their lives like they are the innocent ones.
    Great job!

This is a very bitter poem, Silvia...someone must have hurt you badly.

    Lies,
tear a heart apart, steal the grace.

I found this to be the most important part of the whole verse. What you say is so true..once you find out someone has been lying, you can forgive them and move on from there, but they have fallen from that pedestal you had them on..and nothing can undo that damage.

I have found that in the virtual world people are even more decieving than in real life. You cannot see them, and therefore they can make you believe almost anything. Glad to have taken my distance from it all now;)

    Take care, dear lady!

    God bless,
