Lost From Your Heart

by Poet on the Piano   Jun 1, 2010

When you can't grasp happiness,
life may feel like a wasted journey
not worth half the emotions.
False security suffocates
but it's all you have ever known.

Suddenly you want to surrender everything.

Look at humans passing by,
they each deal with a different pain
burdens force a sickly smile.
Their dreams are breaking slowly
but no one comes to the rescue.

Suddenly your shoulder weight decreases.

Know that somewhere,
a person just like you survived
surmounting the same catastrophe.
You can and you will
defeat this dark depression.

Suddenly your eyes discern a spark of light.

Inspired by this quote:

"When you're struggling with something, look at all the people around you and realize that every single person you see is struggling with something, and to them, it's just as hard as what you're going through."
~ Nicholas Sparks (Dear John)
