I Will Never Envy the Dead

by mossgirl19   Jul 1, 2010

I will never envy the dead
though they sleep without a thought
of the morrow's toil
and take none of life's weary breaths.
I will never envy the peacefulness
they have traded for the harsh of life.
Even if in living I have put myself in pain
to be broken, and be so forlorn
to know grief and disillusionment
to feel loneliness and brokenness
within the very depths of my soul.
Still, they are not enough for me to die.

I will never envy the dead
though they lay at rest
and never have to move
for in living I have known the bliss of love
and in the end only love remains.
Still, because of love, I will live.

What a wonderful piece - full of hope and defiance; well done.
