Because You Choose To

by Poet on the Piano   Jul 28, 2010

I cannot be responsible
for your scarred skin,
waiting to barrel ahead.
I hug tea cups
while you peek
through the door screen
and foolishly hope
I saved you breakfast.
You were attached
before I even introduced
my silly flimsy heart.
But I mended.
I strutted past
the motionless cannon
created by our expectations
and even lost my dependence,
I breathe only freedom.
