Stomping Temptation

by Poet on the Piano   Dec 25, 2010

Our Father,
you read our hearts
and look through our eyes,
guide every word
to turn into a positive action
that will only glorify
and radiant the love you
showed by your nails
and crown,
let us be inspired
to turn our heads
against self pleasure,
understanding why
we were made
and by whom.

May our hearts
think as you did
beyond benevolent
with a ultimate word
let our body speak
to set freedom
on top of heaven's wings.

Amen.

Author notes

I have realized lately about the curse of selfishness. During this season it is so easy, wherever you are, to become wrapped up and tied in thoughts that revolve around one population: yourself. I guess I get caught in that moment of joyfulness when I find something for me, but only when you start to give and actually listen to those around you- do you become truly satisfied and have a humble, open heart, for others. Not ourselves. Just a little thought.

Here is a prayer for strength against temptations, whatever they may be, whenever we are alone or those intrusive thoughts creep up.
