Chicago gaiety

by Poet on the Piano   Dec 31, 2010

My hometown,
how I wish to make
a grand return,
and see again
those perfect couples
skipping in the rain,
voices of symmetry.

I dearly miss a city
I've never visited,
but I can desire
in the depths of
dream time, for
it waits longingly,
reserving swings
for my interpretation.

My heart dances
and I can barely
hold back my toes,
from zealously tapping
whatever is beneath
me. Although no one
knows, my body needs
this release to
jazz up my smile
and string lights
to every street.

Bring me back
where I roam
and warmly adore,
without barriers.
