Fall down piously

by Poet on the Piano   Feb 9, 2011

The fire through the demeanors of others
puts my rising thought to shame
until I am left with a residue,
not enough to fill a heart.
I have not found my own voice
but heard all too often
the days' tyrannous lecture,
banishing any confidence.

But you give me commands
that I know breathe no pride.

Your own Spirit holds me,
telling me to break the bond
I have tied with silence, omission.
The tunes of dawn's gathering
do not make a sole pavement
without an inspired view
- a child born to give prayer.

You have asked me,
weeping in the night
for the words of need
so You might come closer,
and show me I have nothing
to hide away eternally.
You give Yourself forever,
a sacrifice of such Love,
You saved all of us
knowing who we were.

I break down on my knees
once again this perpetual year,
not because of my pity,
but for Your leadership.

I want to give my mind
as a remedy for the world
-that they might know the source
and come flooding to You.
