I Will Wait For You

by Poet on the Piano   Mar 20, 2011

I am not experienced
at balancing my pain
onto loudly-printed masks
of fake leather and
velvet dreams, peeling away slowly.

These sunshine drips
I can't seem to catch in my hands,
the bright & burning liquid
quenches my taste for a second
yet it always fools the others I pass.

When I met you, you were bare,
free from painted smiles,
you shone your light from your depth
untouched by pressure, not dizzy
with high expectations.

You left abruptly, but stayed long
enough to define life to me
like no other.

And I will continue on as your words
hold my true being who can change,
a subtle world accepting destruction.
You have pulled me through,
I won't push you away.

Aww this is so sad, some of the lines really hit home for me I guess. I think this was just so beautiful, your lines were powerful with emotion. Although someone has left us that doesn't mean we have to let them go, or push them away. I absolutely adored the lines of which you said they stayed long enough to define life for you. Amazing. I really preferred the last few stanzas over the first few, but you did a great job overall!
