What life is to me

This is freedom

Aloud to speak freely,
with flags flying high.
Hand's over our hearts,
heros protecting as they die.

Armies keeping us safe,
sheltered under their wing.
If we'd start to break,
they'd be our sling.

This is prison

Locked in a cage
banging on bars
No light, only darkness
never seeing the stars.

Prison wardens laughing,
a cell with no bail.
Everyone is in one,
Their mind's their jail.

This is love

The joy of friends,
the hand of a mate.
Knowing there's no fate,
but what we make.

A family that listens,
a secret never told.
With all the ones you love,
helping you reach goals.

This is hate

Coldness of our hearts,
murdering's of the soul.
Loathing against another,
letting hate take it's toll.

Cities start burning,
women, children, men crying.
The more we are killing,
more innocent people dying.

This is hope

Staying strong, moving on,
holding your head high.
Living through the pain,
Not giving into lies.

Keep your faith,
stay in the race.
Strive to win first,
Don't settle for second place.

This is mourning

Watching someone leave,
seeing one's you've lost.
Trying to get them back,
whatever the cost.

Trying to stand tall,
can't stand after the fall.
Don't want to just sit there,
sobbing at the wall.

This is giving

Changing another's life,
fixing a broken heart.
Saving a damaged soul,
Giving a life a fresh start.

Sheltering the needy,
clothing those in need.
Giving up your time,
giving up the greed.

This is stealing

Taking one's innocence,
stealing their joy.
Making them feel worthless,
making them be your toy.

Nothing will matter to them,
everything will be gone.
There's nothing sweet anymore,
not even a song birds song.

You cannot have freedom,
if there is no jail.
You cannot have heaven,
if there is no hell.

You cannot have love,
without knowing hate.
You cannot ever fail,
If you've never been great.

You cannot understand giving,
without all the taking.
You won't understand healing,
without appreciating breaking.

In everyone's life,
We learn from the wrong.
without pain and loss in the world,
We'd never learn to be strong.
