Melpomene

by Sunshine   Jul 1, 2011

Her pen name symbolizes
the muse of misfortune,
but her poetry deliberates joy
even when revealing anguish.

A gasp of novelty that flows
with her own words-a model
of a poetess that has no weapon
as honest as her sentiments,
when letters craft her sword.

A favorite of sunshine, regardless
of her own love for moonlight muses
of which she's a part of, of which she shows-
such a girl of secrecy
(that everyone knows).

This was such a gorgeous poem and fits Mel perfectly. She's always so secretive with her poetry, hiding meanings behind symbolism to cover up her true emotions, but everyone knows her all too well. You wrote the perfect poem to describe her!

    Nana,

This was sweet of you to think of me when writing a poem. You already know how much I appreciate it and it makes me smile every time I read it.

"of a poetess that has no weapon
    as honest as her sentiments,
    when letters craft her sword."

The verse above is beautiful and captured my heart. I liked how you incorporated the sword, your intention or not it reminded me a lot of mythological times, Camelot and so on and I know you know how connected I am to it. I feel like you truly captured my essence within those three lines, so thank you. :)

You know I had a feeling you wrote this when you used "a favorite of sunshine" I liked the symbolism of yourself here, it was elegant and sweet.

I was curious when I read this to the part of secrecy, that was interesting, I wondered why you spoke of secrecy, is it because I don't make an appearance on the main boards too often?

Thank you once again Sunshine flower for making me smile.

    Much love.

    "but her poetry deliberates joy
    even when revealing anguish."
