Pulling Smoke. (Double Etheree).

by Poet on the Piano   Jul 9, 2011

.

Tough
tractor
enduring
twenty thousand
pounds of apt metal,
running all daylight.
Fans around the city
pack their earplugs and armchairs
to hear the sounds of black thunder
embracing tilled dirt and sweat of man,
pride and fellowship in profound honor.

Enlisting fire-fighters now esteemed,
as vibrant red, blue, and green racers
line up fields with dangerous speed
like wind that hurtles cinder-
a screen of pure black fumes;
sweet elephant ears
sausage burgers
giving life
to al,
gifts.
