Abandoned Melodies

by Poet on the Piano   Jun 1, 2012

A hug for her and no one else
vowed in word, left to forsake
the only signs of love she chased,
without knowing that it would take
away the chambers of her heart-
leaving her a vapid mistake.

As if she could be something more,
the face of dawn outside her eyes
or the gentle life that ever blooms,
but shadows come and compromise.
If her bottle has been wasted
why not commit to her demise?

Time forget like seasons betray
and she no longer holds her ground,
stopping at each intersection
to look for her beauty in sound.
But all has been deeply silenced
While swift deaths of her dreams surround.

In the last line while needs to be a lower case 'w'
Is this about a girl who is losing faith in her own abilities?
Perhaps she has put too much effort into 1 thing and now regrets stepping on toes.
Or has she put her neck on the line and chased the wrong man. He has let her down or was never interested. She may have dreamt of a life together and now has hit an intersection, one she never believed she would face, or was not ready to face.
She has to pick herself up and start again.
But does she have the strength?
