Cabernet Memories

by Hannah Lizette   Jun 12, 2012

As the wine made love with her taste-buds,
a forgotten smile formed across her lips,
reliving the last time she had more than a sip.

He had bought two bottles of Cabernet,
they drank themselves into a lovers quarrel,
only to be gone as quickly as it started.

Tunnel vision only for each other,
making promises they knew they wouldn't keep,
tomorrow would be just another average day.

As the night turns into day,
an empty bottle laying at her feet,
she knows it's nothing now but a memory.

So many things done and said on the spur of a moment and under the influence of alcohol.

    Nicely written.

  • I agree with Thomas.. It could read as though seen through the eyes of a drunk/alcoholic but you have written it as through the eyes of a passionate ex or something spending one more night together, another memory that will be in the past come daylight tomorrow.

    Fantastic 5/5
