Happy Hour!

Happy Hour!

There stands the glass filled to the brim, the elixir of life, that will make my troubles seem dim.
It was rough today, trouble came from everywhere,
I feel so alone, the pressure I can't bear, and does anyone care?
This place I share with other spirits in despair,
some call it the Devil's liar.
Misery loves miserable company they say, maybe it should be called "Unhappy Hour", by the way.
Liquor does numb the brain, but when it wears off,
your troubles still remain.
There is a way out of this revolving door, it will change your life, for sure.
New wine to you He will give, light and life will
be yours, your sins He will forgive.
Goodbye Happy Hour I sing, I now have lasting joy,
with Jesus my King.

"Come to Me, all who are weary and heavy-laden, and I will give you rest. Matthew 11:28 NASB.

    Great write!

You have such passion for what you believe in, and this poem has a moral for everyone. That life's pleasures don't necessarily bring happiness, and that a spiritual well-being has to accompany the physical in order to achieve true happiness.

A poem with hope. But if I'm honest Ken, I do love a glass of red wine!
    All the best,
    Ben
