Fifty Balloons

by Courtney Hough   Apr 30, 2013

Gentle breeze,
Flowers petals in the air.
Standing here where you rest,
Heavens hand rushes through our hair.

Usually angels gather round,
When family or friends visit.
But no not today, you wait in the air.
Wings holding you so exquisite.

We tie on our messages,
To the bottom of the string.
While you're waiting at the gates,
As those heavenly angels sing.

We say our memories,
As hands let them go.
As balloons carry notes to you,
From loved ones bellow.

Wonderful wind,
Lifts them up high.
"See you later" we said,
We don't believe in goodbye.

Softly they float,
Away from wondering eyes.
Moving further away,
Approaching heavenly skies.

Fifty balloons,
Making their way up to you.
Happy Birthday on each note,
May all your wishes come true.

As the float up,
arriving to heaven's gate.
Our brother stood next to you,
His beautiful voice spake.

"To a life well lived,"
"Now lives on in them,"
"soon is the day,"
"You will see them again."

"For not all are lost,"
"Just some wondering alone."
"But you and I will find them,"
"and bring them back home."

"I gave you my life,"
"your present from me."
" I brought you home again,"
"So you could live pain free."

Our angel grabs the balloons,
And looks him in the eye.
"I am forever grateful to you,"
"carrying me through my life."

"If I could just ask for one thing,"
They bask in the heavenly glow.
"watch over my family,"
"protect those below."

"all I ever wanted,"
"is a family together forever."
"Grant me one last birthday wish,"
"my true hearts endeavor."

Our brother touches his shoulder,
"Happy birthday my brother."
"I'll do what I can,"
"so you can be with one another."

Those fifty balloons brought up a promise,
That we must all remember forever.
All anyone wants for their birthday,
Is a family forever.
