A Knife In The Dark (Lord Of The Rings Poem)

by Lemon   May 30, 2013

A knife in the dark
A stab through the heart
Through this ring on my finger
I feel his gaze linger
The fiery eye's
Mortal game of eye-spy
I hear him whisper
His voice rough, my ears blister
The wraiths screaming
Flashing lights gleaming
The weight of my burden
It makes my world darken
The wraith's poison spreads
My body like lead
His spotlight has found me
And I sink into sleep

*The title is taken from the chapter of the book The Fellowship of the Ring (which I have unfortunately not read... one day!)/the track from the LotR soundtrack from the scene where Frodo gets stabbed </3*

The Lord Of The Rings: The Fellowship Of The Ring. Book One: Chapter Eleven : A Knife In The Dark.

While resting at the Weathertop the group is attacked by the Nazgul, mortal men once, who have now succumbed to the power of their rings and are slaves to it. Immortal as wraiths, but bound to serve the one dominant ring forged to reign above all others.. Frodo is stabbed by the Morgul blade. Argon arrives just in time and scares off the Nazgul. Frodo is given temporary relief by Arwen. But healed only when treated by Elrond at Rivendell.

    Such good memories.

    Very well written.
