Government

by Lemon   Jul 29, 2013

Eloquent tongues spit white hot poison
Each word a searing pain
They think themselves above everyone
But the only person that they are above is themselves

They spend all year hooked on spring fever like a disease
That never lets go
Drunk on the golden promise of owning more than they have

They lurk, like death in the shadows
Greedy
And to rub salt in the wound their words tore open
They feed off the poor, like an engorged flea
Leaving all of the children locked in wardrobes
Seeking fulfilment of their Narnian dreams
Because all they want
Is a world that hasn't forgotten them

*Challenge prompts:
Golden promise
Spring fever
Narnian dreams
White hot
Death in the shadows
Salt in the wound*

Another powerful and true poem here.
I had written a poem titled 'Corporate America' years ago and it follows the same suit as this piece.
Great flow, loved the vocabulary you used to piece this one together and again I can feel the emotions you feel toward the government throughout this piece.
    Keep it up!
