Whiteout

by Saerelune   Sep 27, 2013

Everything about you has become a blur,
salt and snow, sheets and winter sky,
back of the blank letter on the belly
of my desk. Only my desk wasn't matte.
Traces of erasers accompanied with nail marks
all remained to accuse you of my trauma,
stifled memory, like a nightmare sinking
into the fibers of my pillow, far away
from fingertips, but still sleeping with me.

I like the visuals this piece brings out and the emotions which goes along with it. It pulls, captures and makes the reader sympathize with the writer..nicely penned.

There's almost a macabre atmosphere here, at least I felt that from the eraser marks and nail marks. The very idea of a person being a blur to you is saddening as well as haunting. I adored that ending line, it said a lot in so little.

The part that had me thinking was: "all remained to accuse you of my trauma", such an interesting line because it makes me think the fact you still have visible reminders as well as memories that can re-visited, shows you were possibly traumatized by this person, by their power, ability to sway you, move you, was it their character perhaps?

So many aspects (as Meme wrote about the images and emotion of the poem) incorporated here. Congrats on the win and an honor to share the front page with you!!

I think a lot will relate to this piece, I know I already do. It is beyond what words could express yet it easily stays in the mind of the reader. I think you nailed the emotions and imagery of this piece.
