Writing Poetry

by Lemon   Oct 4, 2013

I used to be a poet
And I'd spill everything onto the page
My anger, my sorrow, my joy
That was before I became too tired to feel
And shut down all my interests,
Locked my inner poet in a box
Somewhere in the back of my mind

I think she's ready to come out again now

I love the honesty to this piece and how you make it feel like you are going to reinforce your goodbye and then you do not. You say that you are back and looking for inspiration. I love that feel and I think so many people here know exactly what that feeling is like.

Your style choice and use of voice are both beautifully done. Excellent piece.

This is very simple and to the point but I love it. Sometimes as writers we all feel this way. You can feelthe emotion through this piece as well bbecause of the sad and the hopeful tones it holds. I think we all understand this a lot. Sadness really is hard to deal with a lot. Anyway the poem is really lovely because of the message. The wording here is great. I enjoyed the phrase inner poet box. Poetry really does come from our soul and heart and I can tell you let it all out. Well done!

I understand exactly what you are saying Lemon.
I haven't been writing much at all, and for someone that would write almost every day it was frustrating to have all these things inside but not be able to form them in to words.

I like how simple and direct this was, and that it always a great way to start when returning to writing

I completely understand! I haven't been able to open up at all...I gave up on writing and became disinterested in it.

This is straight to the point... and I'm glad you are ready to open up your inner poet once more! :)
