Never Mind Time

by Meme   Dec 7, 2013

I already know who you
are, but if you still question
the person you are within
then don't let me be the
reason for you to stay.

Grab that knob and turn it
but don't you turn around.
Go ahead and begin the
journey you seek, may you
see your reflection the only
way my eyes see you.

This is not letting go; please
understand me. Sometimes in
love you have to sacrifice; but
you should keep the hope, thats
when distance becomes a long
thread of holding on...

..a reason for coming back, maybe.

So don't let the winter haze fog
your eyes my dear, that road you
intend to cross will stay paved.
And keep remembering that you
will always have a home in me.

    Judging comment:

I was torn between this poem and one other for my second choice and eventually decided to choose this poem simply because of the opening. I love it.

It speaks so much and with so much volume yet it is almost like you're whispering it to the person you are writing to-like you know them inside out and love them dearly but simultaneously know that they can never truly love you in return until they have learnt to love themselves from within.

    "may you
    see your reflection the only
    way my eyes see you."

This ties in nicely with my previous thoughts and makes me think once more that this person you are referring to is at war within themselves when they have no reason to be as they are beautiful inside and out but has yet to realize that about themselves-and start loving from within. it's such a subtle repetition of the thoughts feelings and emotions without actually repeating your prior words and I love that.

    "And keep remembering that you
will always have a home in me."

I don't think I like these lines...merely because the rest of the poem is genuine and heartfelt, filled with concern and care and written so elegantly only for it to trail off into an overused and cliche ending here. I feel like you didn't know how to wrap your poem up so you just settled for this instead of working on these lines a little more.

Other than that, however, I find this heart warming and beautifully touching.

Interesting piece. I love that opening. For we all have this double life sometimes, pretending to be someone we aren't, having someone live deeper within is.

This was a very elegant way of letting someone go on self discovering journey, I enjoyed the topic and the descriptions.

    Nicely written.

Thanks a lot Chels! And you know what they say, if you love them then let them go, and if they love you they will come back :)

This is full of a lot of emotions :). I think in love we all go through this. We always see ourselves differently then other people. I like the imagery you used here. Every detail is wonderful and you also have a way with metaphors. I like how at the end you bring hope to the other person but still if they think they are the problem they will leave anyway. Great write overall here. You pain such a great picture :)
