MYTHOS

by ghosts in bloom   Jan 20, 2014

I saw a moon not quite
as full as you
and thought of what
your lips might do
if I steadied my feet
upon their rims
balancing, timid
on a tall, tall bridge
then
j
u
m
p
i
n
g
through
your bone-white words
tombstones of
our promised worth
finding where the embers lay
scorched under tongue,
hidden like leaves
under naked trees

winter has come and gone
but soon as I sleep
night stakes me;
a stalactite bite
from reminiscent heroes;
an avalanche
limping down my limbs -
I blink and think
the twinkling stars
might be gasping
just like me,
grasping for a piece
to press into their chest
though nothing seems to stay
on palms damp and illume
like trodden clay
I count my fingers
to stay the clock
a tick tock tick tock
tick
in my nervous system -
clouds are born
and perched
atop search-lights,
preordained to carry secrets
across the belly of blue
from me to you;
ghosts in holy tunics -
they paint you desaturated,
an ancient god

I leave my window
cracked
every night
since your voice
went quiet
left to incline my ear
up to dark-kissed awning
alight with life,
the womb of dawn,
holding my breath
and wishing my lungs
were hot air balloons
while brushing dust
from jagged spines,
reading mythology
between the lines
just to catch
glimpses
of you

Beautiful poem by Novalyn Grace RR ~

She etches her words with beauty and dips them in moon dust! I say this because I feel romantically head over heels in the first stanza! She takes the beauty of moon and creates a romantic scene.

The separation of the word "Jumping" caused me to fall even deeper in love with this poem. To use creativity with words shows that writer is not afraid to take chances, and she has done that and more with this poem!

It's such a sad piece of loss and again the emotions are encased in such elegant and unique words. Just beautiful!!!
