Words end yet love continues

by Poet on the Piano   Feb 18, 2014

It takes only one eye to affirm
you're at the end of a vision,
but it takes all of your heart to believe
what you lived was real.

It's not the words
that make us who we are
in the finest and cruelest
moments.
It's not the words
that decide for us if
we can barely survive.
It's our will to know
that life has purpose,
a legacy
no genetic glitch could
ever steal.

This was a story idea I began on September 26, 2011, 7:26 PM. I am looking through all my older documents I had renamed and found this. I only had two pages written, but this is taken from the last paragraph I wrote (did some editing). The point of view is from Mary Alice Cecily (fictional character) about her husband Ralph, who is informed of his pancreatic cancer. She is depressed by this news, by all these words being revealed about his life. Yet he made the most of every moment and she learned how to live without fears.
