The palm of the sun.

by Poet on the Piano   Jun 8, 2014

I want to be
not just warmed by the sun,
but warned,
that I can only live this path
for so long
before I gain momentum,
slip away from sturdy
branches and friendships
I never unveiled,
and rot -

I want to be
warmed by the sun,
instead of enduring heat
for you cannot
permanently exist
in a heated state
without injuring flesh
or grafting skin.

I want to be
warmed by your touch,
by your fingers stretching
to fulfill God's design.
Won't you hold me now,
help my heart be made
lighter in your golden
laughter.

Amazing write once again MA. Love the idea of being warmed by the sun, I am guessing the sun is a metaphor for someone that is your light...and I love the idea of that. I also love that you want to be reminded that you can't stay where you are in life.
This piece reminds me of a Sara Bareilles song, Chasing the sun.

    Great write as always. x
