Dog is A Man's Best Friend.

by Jenni Marie   Aug 23, 2016

The house is too quiet without you;
sombre and unplayful without watching
you chasing your tail round in circles.

It's too quiet without you talking to us
letting us know you want to go out
and my lap is empty without you nestled
into it, your head resting on my knee.

Emptying out your bowls, the tears came
when washing them out knowing you
would never eat nor drink from them again.

And memories overwhelmed me as I
thought about your quirks and what
made you, you.

You were and are loved and will be
forever missed, one of the best friends
anyone could have and you reminded me
daily,

..... why they say dog is a mans best friend.

*Dedicated to Cassie, my beautiful loyal and loving staff cross pitbull, taken by old age on 23/08/2016.

This poem is so beautiful and so sad. It actually brought tears to my eyes. I am a dog lover myself and I cannot imagine my life without little Roxy. My heart goes out to you in your time of sorrow. Dogs are so much more than a best friend, they are family. Take care Milly x

Jenni, this is such a beautiful dedication to 'mans best friend' and one that many can relate too. I have grown up with dogs and lost many a long the way all different n their ways but all so beautiful and missed. When you have a dog it becomes part of the family and we grief for them like that too.
    Sorry for your loss.

Thanks Em, I'm truly heartbroken she was my baby :( I'm taking comfort in the fact she's no longer suffering.

Thanks for writing this poem, it's so beatufiul ..... so sad, yet so beautiful .....

I remember the day they brought Cassie to the house ..... I remember hugging her .... I remember seeing her on the couch, and sleeping in bed with her head on my feet.

I remember her tail moving happily when she saw me after 10 days I was gone ... and I know that had she seen me 2 years later she would have still done the same ... because dogs are awesome.

    She will be missed.

Can it be nominated? if so, how?

She had so much character she's sorely missed. I keep expecting to see her come running towards me and cover me in kisses.
