Who are you?

by Brenda   Oct 9, 2016

We look at people
with distrust.
Maybe it is how
they are dressed?
Maybe the way
they act?
Maybe it is just
the color of their skin?
-
Who are you
to judge?
-
What makes you
feel superior
to another?
What ticks in your head
set those wheels in motion?
- - -
We as the human race
are a judgemental lot.
We say we are not,
but who are we kidding?
We don't embrace anothers differences,
we won't open our mind's
to anothers culture language,or traditions.
-
So who are you
to judge?
-
When you have never walked
a day,
in their shoes...

A club challenge using a title toss - a really neat idea from Maple Tree-

I like this write and I'm totally agree with you. Who are we to criticize other traditions and culture. Although I think it's good for anyone to understand different cultures of the world. I like Japanese and Chinese cultures. I want to learn Japanese language, and I know little bit Tagalog(Philippines) language.

Thank you! I totally agree with you, I think learning different cultures is a much better way of understanding another person and perhaps not judging because things make more sense. Knowledge goes a long way. I wish you the best in your studies!

    Hello Brenda,

    excellent question, well put.

Who are we to judge anyone? Are we so perfect, so untainted? I think not!

Difference is what makes this world special and sustainable. Live and let live.

Here I go with a personal judgement:

You may want to add a line space or two after, "set those wheels in motion"
    ^
this will (in my judgement) allow the reader to contemplate the question just posed.

    Well done and take care,

Brenda what a fabulous piece from just the title.. I would never have thought to write something as unique and delicate as this.
I loved the subtle rhyming throughout the piece as it added that extra something to the piece.

A honest wrote here which we should lol heed.

    Hi Brenda,

Ben's said it all..my comment is "Truth slaps" people judge people on how they look.

    (So who are you
    to judge?
    -
    When you have never walked
    a day,
    in their shoes...)

for me these lines stand out the most..

    5/5 for this

Gel, thank you so much for your kind words. I would love to be able to say I don't judge but unfortunately I would be lying if I did. I do find as I have gotten older I have become a lot more open and hopefully more understanding of my fellow human. I am a work in progress....take care-
