Looking past my wants (Tri-fall)

by Meena Krish   Jan 23, 2017

So much to say to you
yet I can't
words and feelings tangle and churn,
somehow I wish you knew
my hushed wants
instead I look away and yearn;

Loyal ink turns cold blue,
it can't plant
reasons on leaf it softly burns,
dreams I have just a few
like red ants
they eat my thoughts without concern!

The Tri-fall, created by Jan Turner, consists three 6-line stanzas, for a total of 18 lines. The rhyme scheme is a,b,c,a,b,c and meter for each stanza is as follows: 6/3/8, 6/3/8. This form requires little to no punctuation and can be written on any subject matter.

    Meena, my dear. I have read the criteria and it seems you are missing a stanza. I know its a big ask, but could you add a stanza?

      Oh shoot you are right I'm missing a stanza!! Gosh I've
      never made a mistake like this!! Maybe I should not have the
      form rather just leave it as a poem..
