No Sunrise

by CJ Maleney   Mar 15, 2017

The birds will not sing in the trees this day.

The bees will not buzz about, busying themselves with their work.

The flowers will not open and the dew will not sparkle like diamonds in the Web of the spider.

The rabbits will not emerge from their burrows to taste the sweet, wet morning grasses.

The lambs will not leap and play but instead curl into their mothers,

In this winter, within spring.

The sun will not rise this day, for the world knows you are gone.

This is one of those effortlessly heartrending pieces, and you completely captured this feeling. Maybe I'm taking it in a different direction than you meant, but we all lose people in some way shape or form as time goes on, and when that happens the world just sort of freezes in place, doesn't it? All we see is how much it is lacking without those people and all your unhad good times.

I especially love the way your voice comes out in this one!
