Ashes to ashes

by Michael   May 3, 2017

I gather kindling of compulsion
shavings of cravings.
Logs of possession
arid, barks of obsession.

I set alight this concoction
A ferocious blaze of unforsaken,
anguished days.

A quenching incense
wafts. Scents of self
credence.

Fiendish flames block out the sun.
Shadows rise. Silhouettes cast envious
Cries.
Ghosts taunt, at charred sacrificial,
scars.

I wait until..

This feiry frenzy soon fizzles
to a smouldering of weepy drizzles.
Sultry embers glow. A fading of a
callous foe.

I collect the remnants
and place in a chalice
along with any specks of malice.

I look down into, a shallow grave
addiction with ashen face.
Buried with its odious taste.
I empty the contents of ashes
and dust, upon the root
of my darkest lust.

A longing burning desire
of a futile, funeral pyre.
Goodbye, farewell.
Now you can dwell,
and rot in hell.
