A Soul lost at Sea

by Maple Tree   Jul 6, 2017

Salty oceans grant lessons

to a soul with pure tears.

You continue to fill the sea

with countless betrayal,

waves engulf your thoughts

and you become driftwood....

endlessly, until a drowning soul
clings onto your dying limbs,
and only then
shall you be saved.

Oh wow Andrea this is quite sad but well written as a pure emotional piece. I agree with what people said, the imagery is lovely . Even as a metaphor poem you did well.

This seems to be about loss and the genuine emotions of the author. You seem to compare this person with the ocean, which i like a lot. Or you seem to compare tears to an ocean. Either way it works well, because you describe how vast your tears are, and that tells the reader how distressed this person is.

There seems to be two stories or point of views here, one is the author and the other is the person lost. And i like the metaphor for drowning here, in life we all drown in something that hurts, addiction etc. So it works well to show the reader how much pain both people are or were in.

Someday it will be ok again. Always here for you. Hugs* <3
