A Prayer (for Em)

Oh ruler of all worlds
I plead and pray for another
A poetess
One whose sight is dimming
Threatening blindness
Alive with a sense lost
in a senseless world
Colors to wash away
like chalk drawings
in the rain,
Crawling
through crevices
aligning the cement,
Lost to the underworld.
I pray with all
sincerity this
weary poet can muster,
Cleanse the windows
so she can see.

Unaware of the appearance
of her eyes
I imagine the duet
glistens and shines
Alike her love poems
Each shimmer
a word crafted
from the inner realms
of her heart
Soaring off pages,
Her prose would swim
in the two pools,
Skate on smooth
retinas
Hidden at night.
Read my prayer
Oh great one
Drain not those two
heavenly fountains.

Doubter - I have been
of your existence
Divine sculptor,
Evidence
mounted against you;
Evil upon evil
Suffering,
Alike the suffering
Scribed in her
poems of sadness;
Overwhelming pain
Battered and tormented,
Now demons return
for her sight,
Like shadows
thieving in the darkness,
I beg all reasons
for divine intervention;
Please oh
master of angels
Help save her from
blindness.
