Please Listen Closely...

by Love   Jul 4, 2018

Depression is silent,
Yet the loudest feeling ever felt.
It's a ticking time bomb,
A click in midair,
A pulling of untold desperation;
And i'm waiting for the pin to drop.

Please listen closely...

Tick-

Tick -

Tick.

Yes.
This is what depression sounds like.
Can't you sense it?
Try to image it...
The sound of nothing,
And yet everything,
All at the same time.

-It shouts in silent screams-

It lies in the stillness.
A trigger in the waiting.
A grenade about to explode.
The space in between numbness and sharp pain.

Listen, once more...
Now can you hear it?

(                             )

The seconds are drawing near...
And I think it's a damn shame,
That nobody can understand,
Just how voiceless I've become.

Here comes the shrapnel...
Please cover your heart.

-times up-

I picked this for my 5 purely because it's an important subject to discuss, I also like the layout, different to anything else nominated this week. I think poetry has an important place in the arts and is a relevant voice. I also like to see poetry bounding along ignoring stringent rules previously drummed in to us all. This ticks both boxes for me. Well done (5 points)

This is just brilliant! "it shouts in silent screams" ... great line and so relate-able. Aside from the fantastic content of your words, the way you've laid them out really adds to the reading of it. Really so well done :-) x

I've lost a couple friends to depression and suicide albeit some time ago, more recently my son (who has only just turned 18) lost one of his to the same.

As you can imagine he and his friends are devastated. Such a shame they missed the signs.

A fantastically worded poem about a subject that many are too blind or to scared to discuss.

    Well done you.

    Regards and respect.
