A weary Soul seeking the River of Peace

A weary Soul seeking the River of Peace

I heard that it flows in the East, from an ancient land, maybe Iraq or Iran? My life has been one of much unrest, so many fiery trials, beat my soul to near death, fear, and dread filled my head, my heart beat rapidly, with each breath.

A great darkness had encompassed me, everything that I had ever wanted, the Devil gave to me, but alas, what I sowed led to much depression and misery. I heard about a famous Preacher who was named after the day of Sunday, but my worst day was blue Monday!

I was sure that God had given up on me, I left him at the Altar, too much sin, had done me in, but I loved it so, I thought, the Church is the place that only good people should go. One night in my great despair, I cried out; God, if you really exist, show me, give me a sign. When I turned on the radio, a Preacher was saying that there is a River that flows from the Divine, water, flowing from God above.

Even since that moment I have sought this River, to my surprise, I found it in someone’s eyes, I saw their peace and joy, the moment that they opened the door, they spoke God’s word, called me friend, I begged them, please tell me more. I was told that God saw my pain and strife, and through his Son, offered me a new life. His word pierced my soul within like a sharp knife, I was deeply convicted of all my sin, received forgiveness, rivers flowed within. Now, I sing a new song; there is a River that flows from God above, filled with Emanuel’s blood, shed for me, the only true example of perfect Love.
