Throwing in the Towel

by Maple Tree   Mar 6, 2019

and if you ever feel like giving up-

Remember the stars in the sky
for they dangle among the moonlight,
shadowing your nightmares, soothing
demons that play around with your emotions.

and if you ever feel like giving up-

I am laced within the silence
that circles around an empty room,
embracing the fears that you feel
when you think you are alone.

and if you ever feel like giving up-

Remember that my love for you
is stronger than the bars that
clench behind you, nothing
can overpower a love a mother has
for her daughter.

However; if the day comes that you do give up-

just know I am with you
holding your hand as the sky
reaches down to take you home,
because nothing will ever separate us-
not even death.

I seriously want to print this out and have it somewhere on my wall, in large font. This was incredible and moved my heart (as your poems always do, dear Maple). The soft repetitions that grow louder and louder to never give up, that even if we do fall down, we will not be alone. We will be comforted through it all.

Your love as a mother and woman will reach not only your Bird but countless others. It's strong and unending.

    You are incredible <3
