Eco Illogical

by CJ Maleney   Apr 29, 2019

He looks down from his glass tower
And surveys his world below.
Asphalt rivers snake through the city,
But there is nothing here that flows

The park in the city centre,
That once pulsed with life and song.
Does not have one single bird to chirp or tweet.
All the animals are gone.

The trees are bland and leafless,
There are no flowers here to see.
For there are no means of pollination.
When you don't have any bees.

He doesn't care about what he's created,
Nor concerned that children do not play.
Not bothered about the lost beauty of the park,
He never went there anyway.

On his desk sits a report from Borneo,
About the falling production of Palm oil
It states the trees will not grow,
There are too many toxins in the soil.

He's angered about the drop in profits,
But not about the consequences of his acts.
Doesn't care the plantations that he owns.
Destroyed the orangutans habitat.

Men like him only care for money,
By greed they are consumed.
They will never ever change.
Hence our earth is surely doomed.

I wonder if we have a future!
I wonder how we all shall live.
When all earth's resources have been abused,
And she has nothing left to give.

A strong reminder that we all need to consider the long term repercussions to this planet if we don't take action to save our planet. Milly x

      Indeed.

The way things are going I find rather worrying.
