Lackluster

by Matt Carroll   Aug 21, 2019

At times, their silence renders all the answers needed
Your lackadaisical choices leave me utterly defeated
Kindred words and tender care systematically preceded
By the ever-growing fear my place had all but been re-seated

The allure of new things faded, you've simply rendered me lackluster
I'm dumbfounded by the fact that I was fool enough to trust her
The chill of their betrayal, gale force; an icy winter bluster
Effortlessly draining all the strength and love that I had left to muster
