Flames

by Mortal Utopia   Oct 20, 2019

Your breath became the smoke I see;
Your smile would shine in fire and light
Dispersed and blurred to shroud in white
Our dreams and tears that come and flee.

The smoke would dance and so will we,
The fire, the flames across the sea
From where we came, to where we fled.
Of all the things I wished I'd said,

I wished the most to say to you
“we’re finally home”.

    ABBA AACC rhyme scheme? Not easy at all and written in perfect iambic tetrameter. Love this poem and the imagery it conjures.
