Circumstance

by Kate   Oct 25, 2019

Drunken blur and pastel skies
Faded in your silly lies
You drink me in to pass the time
But it never felt right

How we kissed and how you dance
I fell in love with your cold hands
Guess it was just circumstance
I was never part of the plan

Endless love you’d promised me
Late September on my knees
Begging you to please not flee
Buried in these autumn leaves

Darkened blue and starless skies
No clouds above to dry my eyes
Wished you’d never been my light
No... that doesn’t sound right
